Lenovo has announced the Yoga Pro 9i Gen 9, a 16-inch notebook aimed at creative professionals. With a 3.2K Mini-LED or IPS display, up to an RTX 4070 laptop GPU, and the latest Intel Core Ultra 5/7/9 H series chips, the Yoga Pro 9i (16, 9) bundles powerful hardware with high-resolution, color-accurate screens. Additionally, the Yoga Pro 9i Gen 9 boasts a whole slew of AI features including Yoga Creative Zone and Lenovo X Power.

The Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 16 with the latest Intel Core Ultra Meteor Lake processors has been announced at CES 2024. The laptop keeps the design of its predecessor and bets big on the AI prowess of Intel’s new CPUs and Lenovo’s AI Core chip with a handful of potentially useful AI-powered software features.

For starters, the Yoga Pro 9i Gen 9 carries a MIL-STD-810H chassis with a 16-inch display, a 5MP webcam, a full-size keyboard that incorporates a number pad, and plenty of ports. On the left side, the laptop features one Thunderbolt 4 port, one USB Type-A, one audio jack, an HDMI 2.1 output, and a DC-In. On the right side, there is a single Type-A connector and an SD card slot.

Talking a bit more about the display, the Yoga Pro 9i 16 Gen 9 can be equipped with either a 3.2K 16-inch IPS panel with 500 nits of brightness and 100% sRGB coverage or a 3.2K Mini-LED panel with 1,200 nits of peak brightness and 100% sRGB/DCI-P3/AdobeRGB coverage. Both screens support touch input, are Dolby Vision certified, and carry a 165 Hz refresh rate.

On the inside, the 2024 Yoga Pro 9i Gen 9 is powered by the Intel Core Ultra H series, up to an RTX 4070 laptop GPU, up to 64 GB of LPDDR5 memory, and up to 2 TB of storage. For comparison, the 2023 Yoga Pro 9i 16 carries Raptor Lake-H CPUs and RTX 40 boards. Per Lenovo, the Yoga Pro 9i Gen 9 will be available in a range of CPU configs from cheaper Core Ultra 5 all the way up to Core Ultra 9 H CPUs.

One of the defining qualities of Meteor Lake CPUs is their built-in NPUs and it appears Lenovo is bundling nifty software features to take advantage of it. For instance, the company claims that through its Yoga Creative Zone utility, users of Lenovo Yoga laptops will be able to develop images from text descriptions using generative AI. Yoga notebooks with discreet GPUs, like the Yoga Pro 9i Gen 9, can even generate and store a custom AI model for image production tasks locally.

Similarly, Lenovo also touts its built-in AI Core Chip to enhance AI functions while the Lenovo X Power utility is meant to enhance content production workloads by managing resource allocation for optimal power consumption, cooling, and performance.

Coupled with a dedicated Windows Copilot button like other 2024 laptops, Lenovo is placing a lot of focus on AI.

Finally, the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 16 (Gen 9) packs an 84 Wh battery which is 12% larger than the 75 Wh cell of the Gen 8 Yoga Pro 9i 16. We weren’t particularly impressed with the Yoga Pro 9i 16 Gen 8’s endurance in our review, so the bigger battery coupled with more efficient Meteor Lake chips could provide good runtimes.

The Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i (16, 9) will be appearing on store shelves starting in April at an entry-level price of $1,699.99.
