CES 2024 | Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16 (Gen 9) gaming laptop debuts with Ryzen 8040 Hawk Point APUs and up to RTX 4070 GPU
Lenovo has unveiled the 2024 Lenovo Slim 5 16 Gen 9 mid-range gaming laptop at CES 2024. The new Slim 5 is an updated version of the 2023 Lenovo Slim 5 16 with new AMD CPUs, a more powerful GPU at the top end, and an optional 240 Hz display.
Starting with the design, the Lenovo Slim 5 (16, 9) uses the same understated general design as the Lenovo Slim 5 (16, 8). So even when the laptop is packing serious gaming hardware under the hood, it doesn’t scream “gamer” from the outside. The laptop’s chassis incorporates plenty of ports distributed on all sides. The machine has two Type-A ports (one of which is Always-on), one RJ45 jack, a single HDMI 2.1, and a DC-in at the rear. The left and right sides are populated with two Type-C ports with DisplayPort (one of which supports Power Delivery), a combo jack, an SD card reader, and a webcam shutter slider.
Rounding off the outside of the laptop is a 16-inch display and an FHD webcam. This year, users can configure the Lenovo Slim 5 16 with up to a 240 Hz 1600p panel with a 3 ms response time, 500 nits of brightness, NVIDIA G-SYNC, and 100% coverage of the sRGB gamut. The 240 Hz panel is an upgrade over the 2023 Lenovo Slim 5 (Available on Amazon) which topped out at a 1600p 165 Hz display.
Shifting our focus to the CPU and GPU, the Gen 9 Lenovo Slim 5 16 (Thin version) features the AMD Ryzen 8040 Hawk Point APUs and up to an RTX 4070 laptop. The Thinner version, on the other hand, tops out at an RTX 4050 just like the 2023 model.
Finally, the Lenovo Slim 5 16 Gen 9 rocks up to an 80 Wh battery, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.1.
The Lenovo Slim 5 16 Gen 9 is set to go on sale in April at a starting price of $1,499.
