Lenovo has upgraded the Legion Pro 5i to Intel's new Raptor Lake Refresh architecture. The company has shared initial pricing details for the Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 too, as well as full device specifications.

Lenovo has decided to give the Legion Pro 5i a 9th-generation refresh, a year after the introduction of its 8th-generation predecessor. Like the Legion Pro 7i Gen 9, the new Legion Pro 5i is something of a minor refresh from last year's model. For example, Lenovo continues to offer the Legion Pro 5i with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 (140 W) GPU, the same found in the Gen 8 model.

Additionally, an 80 Wh battery can still be found, as can 300 W wired charging via Lenovo's Slim Adapter. However, the Gen 9 model upgrades the Legion Pro 5i series to Intel's Raptor Lake Refresh architecture, with a choice of the Core i5-13500HXCore i7-13700HX and Core i9-13900HX offer in last year's model. In their place arrives the Core i9-14900HX, which also powers the Legion Pro 7i; please see our Core i9-14900HX analysis article for full details about Intel's new flagship Raptor Lake Refresh laptop processor.

According to Lenovo's press release, the Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 relies upon an 80 Wh battery that supports 300 W wired charging or 140 W via one of its USB ports. Despite having a 19% smaller battery capacity than the Legion Pro 7i Gen 9, the Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 still features the same high-end display. Thus, the latter utilises a 16-inch IPS panel that outputs at 2,560 x 1,600 (WQXGA) pixels in a 16:10 aspect ratio with a 240 Hz refresh rate and 3 ms response times (GtG). Moreover, Lenovo states that the panel is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification, delivers 500 nits peak brightness and covers 100% of the sRGB colour space.

Sales for the Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 should start in March within the Eurozone and the US. Incidentally, this release month also applies to the Legion Pro 7i Gen 9, pricing for which we have discussed separately. As for the Legion Pro 5i Gen 9, Lenovo states that it should retail for €1,399 in the Eurozone and $1,399 in the US. For reference, the Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 will come with the following ports:
