The Gen 8 Legion Slim 7i is an excellent gaming laptop as shown by our review rating of 90%. The machine is characterized by its low weight, thin profile, good per-key RGB keyboard, and solid display.
Delving more into the display, our review device, which had the same panel as the model on sale, exhibited a high average brightness of 445 nits, 99.4% sRGB coverage, and a decent contrast ratio of 1217:1. Combined with a speedy 240 Hz refresh rate, Advanced Optimus, and NVIDIA G-SYNC, the display has almost everything a gamer could want.
Moving on to performance, the combination of a high-end Core i7-13700H CPU and an RTX 4060 laptop GPU should deliver strong FHD gaming performance. Our testing shows that the RTX 4060 laptop performs practically on par with the desktop SKU (Available on Amazon). In heavy hitters like Avatar Frontiers of Pandora and Alan Wake 2, the board can deliver FPS in the high 50s at FHD/High. Lighter titles like Helldivers 2 can even be pushed to above 80 FPS at FHD/Ultra.
Finally, the Legion Slim 7i battery life is about average as we measured a runtime of 4.5 hours in the WLAN test.
All in all, if you are after a 16-inch gaming laptop with mid-range performance, the Legion Slim 7i 16 (Gen 8) for only $1,257.20 is a pretty compelling option.
