Lenovo's counterpart to the Steam Deck has experienced its first price drop on Amazon as a welcome 7% discount brings the 8.8-inch Legion Go gaming handheld down to a slightly more reasonable price point of $649 for the entry-level 512GB version.

Lenovo's answer to the successful Steam Deck has been on the market for a few months now, but in contrast to most Legion-branded gaming laptops, it took quite a while until the Chinese company introduced any kind of discount for its good-looking gaming handheld.

Fortunately, the wait is finally over as Lenovo is now selling the Legion Go with 512GB of mass storage for $649 instead of the regular list price of $699. This sale is available at the manufacturer's official online store, at Amazon as well as Best Buy. The same $50 discount applies to the more expensive 1TB SKU of the Legion Go, which has thereby dropped to $699.

In any case, gamers who opt for the Lenovo Legion Go instead of the Steam Deck can look forward to a 8.8-inch QHD display with a 144Hz refresh rate and surprisingly good color space coverage according to our just-released review. Furthermore, the gaming handheld is powered by the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU with 16GB of memory.

However, prospective buyers should be aware that the Legion Go is also quite heavy and weighs almost 2 lbs, which makes it noticeably less travel-friendly than the 1.4-lbs Steam Deck. We further noticed that the software of Lenovo's handheld is not exactly flawless, and we have also criticized the lack of maintenance options as well as the overheating SSDs. Nonetheless, early adopters who can't wait to replace their heavy and bulky gaming notebook with a more portable device might want to take advantage of this offer.
