A Lenovo representative recently clarified rumours about the possibility of the company releasing new Legion Go gaming handhelds. While the company has sought to dampen rumours, its statement still leaves space for the arrival of a smaller Legion Go 'Lite' later this year.

The likes of AYANEO, Anbernic and Powkiddy continue to release new gaming handhelds at a breakneck pace. Even ASUS has now introduced a ROG Ally successor of sorts, which it sells as the ROG Ally X. Lenovo has stuck firm with the Legion Go (curr. $554.52 on Amazon) though, an 8.8-inch option whose many rival is the ONEXPLAYER X1 Mini.

Recently though, it appeared that the company may have inadvertently shared details about two upcoming gaming handhelds that differed from the current Legion Go in various areas. Subsequently, Lenovo clarified that the information contained on its website was 'incorrect':

I think that was probably as innocent as an FAQ document written at launch last year (that could have used some better proof-reading) being overlooked until someone recently stumbled upon it and jumped to conclusions.

With that being said, the company's statement to Forbes hinted at future releases, adding that it is 'working on bringing the coolest new gaming innovations to our fans around the world'. Ultimately, Lenovo has not addressed rumours about creating a 'Lite' model that will sit alongside the existing Legion Go. Instead, it only denied that which it published on its website.

Cynically, this could be an elaborate marketing campaign. At any rate, Lenovo's statement to Forbes leaves space for the arrival of a new but not next-generation option like the Legion Go Lite. Potentially, this 'Lite' model could take the form of a '7-inch or 8-inch' gaming handheld, which Windows Central speculated earlier this year. However, it remains to be seen whether the alleged Legion Go Lite will feature a HDMI port and dual fans as was mentioned on Lenovo's website. In short, it seems that Lenovo is not done with the Legion Go brand just yet.
