Nextorage claims its new G Series ME 2230 SSDs deliver the fastest transfer speeds

While Asus ROG Ally X has upgraded the storage slot to an M.2 2280, the rest of the major gaming handhelds have a 2230 slot. That includes the non-X ROG Ally, Steam Deck, and Lenovo Legion Go. Even though the market has many options, Nextorage claims that it has the fastest drives available.

Nextorage says that its new G Series ME can deliver a sequential read speed of up to 7,400 MB/s while the sequential write speed is up to 6,200 MB/s. In comparison, one of the fastest PCIe 4.0 2280 drives, the Samsung 990 Pro M.2 SSD (2 TB curr. $168 on Amazon), delivers up to 7,450 MB/s and 6,900 MB/s.

So, these advertised read and write speeds are definitely great for a 2230 SSD. Nextorage also says that the new G Series ME drives have high stability. The 2 TB model is said to have a TBW endurance rating of 1,200 TB, while the 1 TB has 600 TB.

Moreover, this 2230 M.2 SSD lineup has a DRAM-less design, which the company says delivers better operating temperatures and consumes less power. While all this sounds great, these new drives are currently only available in Japan. The 1 TB drive goes for around $149, while the 2 TB version costs about $265. There's no word about worldwide availability yet, but the company does sell its other storage solutions internationally.
