Deal | Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 with Core i7 and RTX 4050 sees big $600 price cut
Microsoft launched the Surface Laptop Studio 2 as an updated replacement for the Surface Book lineup. The notebook is currently sitting on Amazon at $1,799.97, which translates to a generous $600.02 discount from the regular price tag.
As for the design of the Studio 2 laptop, while the Surface Book series offered a 2-in-1 design, the substitution doesn’t let you detach the display. Such a design allowed users to operate the notebook as a relatively thin tablet computer.
However, the Surface Laptop Studio 2 does retain some of the aspects of the lineup it replaced. For example, it comes with a touchscreen and can convert to what Microsoft calls “creative canvas” mode, allowing you to use the laptop like a thick tablet. You can also adjust the display to an “angled stage,” making the screen sit closer than regular notebook mode. Note that the display does cover the keyboard in this mode.
But Microsoft does have valid reasons to use this intricate hinge design instead of a 2-in-1 design for the Surface Laptop Studio 2. It offers room for a larger battery, which makes the notebook deliver up to 18 hours of runtime in “typical use.” You also get powerful internals, which include the Core i7-13700H CPU and a dedicated RTX 4050 GPU. Other highlights of the variant on sale include 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD.
Regarding the ports, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 comes with two USB-C Thunderbolt 4, one USB-A 3.1, an audio jack, a microSDXC slot, and the exclusive Surface Connect port. To offer reliable wireless connectivity, it has Bluetooth 5.3 and WiFi 6E. You can learn more about the design and performance of the notebook from the video attached below.
