Onyx Boox: Two new e-books with powerful features and pen input launched
Onyx Boox now has two new e-readers on offer: the Onyx Boox Note X3 Pro and Onyx Boox Note X3 Youth Edition. Both models have a 10.3-inch screen, but the Boox Note X3 Pro has a pixel density of 300 PPI and an E Ink Carta 1200 display, while the Boox Note X3 Youth Edition only has a pixel density of 277 PPI.
Both e-readers are equipped with an SoC with eight computing cores and a clock frequency of 2.4 GHz. The Qualcomm computing chip is flanked by 4 GB of RAM (Note X3 Pro) or 3 GB for the Youth Edition. The internal storage of the Note X3 Pro is also twice as large at 64 GB. The Youth Edition is said to have a 4100 mAh battery instead of 3700 mAh.
Both systems are based on Android 12, which should allow for the installation of a variety of apps, significantly increasing the tablets' range of functions. Both e-readers are also likely to be particularly suitable for taking notes in light of the advertised stylus support, the use of which is limited to 4046 pressure levels. At 6.7 mm, the Note X3 Youth Note is said to be slightly thicker than the Note X3 Pro. The front illumination of the Onyx Boox Note X3 Pro can also be adjusted in terms of color temperature. Lastly, WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0 are available.
At present, both models are only available in China; information on an international release is still pending. Buyers can find a comparable alternative in the BOOX Tablet Note Air3 at Amazon.
