Huawei has expanded its MatePad series with the MatePad 11.5"S, a tablet with a 2.8K and 144 Hz display that runs HarmonyOS 4.2 and is available as an optional 'PaperMatte Edition'. All variants feature a USB 3.0 Type-C port, support for the M-Pencil 3 and an 8,800 mAh battery, among other hardware.

Huawei has lifted the lid on the MatePad 11.5"S, a mid-sized tablet that has a 2.8K and 144 Hz IPS display. Like other recent MatePad releases, the MatePad 11.5"S also comes in a PaperMatte Edition variant that should mimic writing on paper when using Huawei's M-Pencil 3 stylus. Additionally, the 6.2 mm thick tablet can be paired with a keyboard accessory, which we have pictured below.

Officially, Huawei does not reveal what chipset underpins the MatePad 11.5"S and MatePad 11.5"S PaperMatte Edition. However, our time with the former allowed us to confirm that the new tablets rely upon Kirin silicon with a Maleoon 910 GPU. While this is the same GPU that Huawei includes within the Kirin 9000S and its derivatives, its CPU is arranged differently:

  • 1x HiSi-Main (2.49 GHz)
  • 3x HiSi-Mid (2.15 GHz)
  • 4x ARM Cortex-A510 (1.53 GHz)

Potentially, this could be the Kirin 9000 S1 that powers the Pura 70 and Pura 70 Pro. Huawei has not confirmed that this is the case, though. At any rate, the MatePad 11.5"S also comes with 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and an 8,800 mAh battery. While Huawei has not revealed pricing or availability yet, it has disclosed all key device details on its website.
