The Fusion Keyboard 2.0 is a new keyboard that can be used not only for text input but also as a mouse. This means that you only need to take a single device with you, which should save space and weight.

The Fusion Keyboard 2.0 from Mokibo is a new and relatively compact input device. It should also be particularly suitable for mobile applications, where there is no need to carry an additional mouse. However, according to the manufacturer, users of the Fusion Keyboard 2.0 do not have to do without the function of a mouse.

The keyboard also functions as a touchpad. According to Mokibo, this is invisibly integrated into the keys. As a result, the individual keyboards offer two types of operation. If these are typed, the letter is entered as usual for a keyboard. If you swipe over them, the mouse pointer moves accordingly.

In principle, this solution can offer several advantages. For example, the space for a touchpad can be saved, the keyboard can be made more compact or larger and, therefore, generally easier-to-use keys can be fitted with the same dimensions. In addition, it is theoretically possible to have touchpads of any size. This means that users do not have to move their fingers from the keyboard to the touchpad, which could result in more relaxed use. However, it is still unclear whether this will actually be the case, and only independent tests will ultimately be able to show this.

The exact specifications of the Fusion Keyboard 2.0 are not yet available, so the dimensions of the device are unknown. However, the long battery life and compact design are already being advertised, and the keyboard is also intended to act as a stand for tablets. Up to three devices can be connected simultaneously via Bluetooth. A Apple Pencil can be attached to a magnetic holder. The key travel is specified at 1.5 millimeters and the actuation force is 63 grams.

The Fusion Keyboard 2.0 will be available on Kickstarter soon and, as usual, at a discount compared to the retail sales price.
