8BitDo reveals Commodore 64 refresh of Retro Mechanical Keyboard with Super Buttons and Super Stick accessories
8BitDo is accepting pre-orders for a new version of its Retro Mechanical Keyboard. Until now, the company has offered the Retro Mechanical Keyboard in Famicom and North American NES-inspired designs. This time, the keyboard has been refreshed with Commodore 64 (C64 Edition) stylings.
As such, the keyboard has a beige housing with 87 grey ABS keycaps, which sit atop Kailh Box White V2 switches. Additionally, 8BitDo continues to include an internal metal plate for improved rigidity that undoubtedly contributes to its 1.05 kg weight. Moreover, the C64 Edition has retro-looking volume, connection type and hot key buttons. The retro styling extends to a red power LED too, as well as a ribbed textured finish surrounding it.
Moreover, the C64 Edition can be customised using 8BitDo's Ultimate Software V2 and supports wired USB, Blueooth LE and 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity. The C64 Edition retails for $109.99 in the US, a $10 surcharge over N and Fami editions. However, 8BitDo has discounted these other Retro Mechanical Keyboard options to $89.99 at the time of publication, effectively making the C64 Edition $20 pricier than its counterparts. Also, it is worth noting that the C64 Edition will not begin shipping until May 28 in the US; 8BitDo has not confirmed pricing for other markets yet, either.
