Xiaomi launches new compact 120W GaN charger for ~$28 at Mi Fan Festival 2024

The recently teased Gallium Nitride (GaN) charger for Xiaomi has made its official debut in China. It’s compact and reasonably portable, yet it can deliver 120 watts of power. As a matter of fact, the company says that it has managed to make it 42% smaller than its regular 120W GaN charging brick.

But it’s not just the speed that Xiaomi is going for with this fast charger. It’s also about compatibility, as the portable charging brick is compatible with QC 3.0, UFCS 1.0, and PD 3.0 protocols. This makes it work with most of the smartphones. The company says that it can even offer up to 65W of fast charging to notebooks.

The new Xiaomi 120W GaN charger also has multiple safety features. That includes protection from overvoltage, over-temperature, overcurrent, and short circuits. Besides, the company includes a 1.5-meter USB-C cable in the box, which makes it a complete package.

As for pricing, the fast GaN charger with the USB-C cable is enjoying a promotional price of CNY 199 in China. That’s around $28, which is a great price for the charging setup.
