GPD has now released a new version of its Win 4 gaming handheld. Dubbed the Win 4 2024, the updated device combines an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U APU with a 6-inch display for now, although cheaper Ryzen 5 8640U variants should be launching soon too.

GPD has now released the Win 4 2024, shortly after detailing the new gaming handheld. For reference, the Win 4 2024 arrives in the wake of updated Win Mini, Win Max 2 and G1 devices, full details of which we have covered separately. As for the Win 4, the Win 4 2024 is actually the second refresh after last year's Ryzen 7040 series release.

Unsurprisingly, GPD has now moved its PlayStation Portable lookalike onto AMD's newer Ryzen 8040 APUs. For now, the company only offers one Win 4 2024 configuration. Specifically, the company has limited its Win 4 2024 release to a Ryzen 7 8840U APU, 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB for approximately $984. However, the company also sells the gaming handheld with G1 eGPU or G1 eGPU and OCuLink cable bundles for $1,630 and $1,672, respectively.

Based on GPD's Indiegogo campaign responses, other Win 4 2024 SKUs will be available in about a month's time though, including an option with the same APU but 64 GB of RAM and 4 TB of storage. Unfortunately, it is unclear at this stage when GPD will begin selling cheaper Ryzen 5 8640U variants, despite mentioning the less powerful APU on its website and Indiegogo campaign page.
