GPD has now announced pricing for the Win 4 2023 ahead of its Indiegogo campaign launch. As its name suggests, the Win 4 2023 is a minor refresh of the original Win 4 rather than a complete overhaul. Thus, the former has the same design as the latter, with a 6-inch display that can be pushed up to reveal a five-row keyboard beneath.
However, the 2023 refresh swaps AMD Ryzen 6000 APUs for the Ryzen 5 7640U or Ryzen 7 7840U, which both combine Zen 4 CPU cores and iGPUs based on the RDNA 3 architecture. Hence, the Win 4 2023 should run more efficiently than the original model while also delivering superior gaming performance, particularly in emulation, thanks to AVX-512 support.
Additionally, the Win 4 2023 adds an Oculink port, also referred to as OCuLink, for compatibility with its G1 eGPU. As the image below shows, the Win 4 2023 will start at US$699 with a Ryzen 5 7640U, a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB of RAM. Alternatively, the gaming handheld will be available with the Ryzen 7 7840U from US$839, which GPD pairs with 32 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. In other words, the Win 4 2023 is cheaper than its predecessor, but only with a nominally weaker Ryzen 5 7640U. Still, the GPD will start selling the Win 4 2023 on July 17 at 02:00 UTC.
