TrimUI Smart Pro: New gaming handheld to launch soon with PlayStation Vita looks
TrimUI is releasing another gaming handheld, a few years after introducing the Smart. While the Smart Pro sounds like a more powerful alternative to the Smart, there are few similarities between the pair. In fact, the TrimUI Smart Pro looks more a PlayStation Vita, with a round sweeping design and a comparable button layout.
Reportedly, TrimUI has settled on a version of the Allwinner A133 for the SmartPro called the Allwinner A133plus. With little documentation about the 'plus' variant, it appears that it is merely an overclocked version of the standard Allwinner A133 with 200 MHz higher peak CPU clock speeds. The arrangement of four ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores remains unchanged though, as does a PowerVR GE8300 GPU running at 660 MHz.
Other details remain unknown at this stage, including price and availability. However, the gaming handheld will feature a 4,000 mAh battery within its 188 x 80 x 17 mm chassis and a 4.96-inch IPS display. Supposedly, the small display operates natively at 1,280 x 720 pixels, which would yield a 294 PPI. The TrimUI Smart Pro is expected to eventually arrive in three colour options too, with Retro Handhelds suggesting a late July release.
