Small attention to detail on the Lenovo Legion Slim Gen 8 solves an annoying issue on the Alienware x16 r1
We recently had the chance to review the Alienware x16 R1 and Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16 G8 back to back. Though they each have their own strengths and weaknesses, one strength of the Lenovo model in particular caught our attention for its simplicity and surprising effectiveness.
The Legion Slim 7 16 features a row LED indicators behind the outer lid to show exactly where the rear ports are located. For laptops that feature several ports along the rear, this simple addition makes it easier to plug in external monitors, AC adapters, and other USB devices from the back without needing to bend over or lift the laptop just to see where the ports are each time.
Such a feature could be very useful on the Alienware x16 or Asus ROG Strix series as their respective designs also integrate a handful of ports along the rear instead of the more easily accessible left-hand and right-hand sides. Lenovo appears to be the only major OEM thus far to include this small but helpful detail on their gaming laptops.
