Lenovo has made its second-gen Android gaming tablet official today (July 22, 2023). The 2023 version of the Y700 comes in two colors and three different RAM/storage SKUs, which may be just part of what helps the new version blow its inaugural predecessor away in terms of performance. Then again, their battery and charging stats remain constant.

Lenovo had made the "new Y700's" upgrades over its 2022 forebear very clear in the form of extensive spec and feature previews. Nevertheless, the OEM has taken the opportunity to hammer them home during its epic Legion product event of today.

To that end, the Legion Y700 is now backed to take its place at the forefront of the gaming tablet space, with a boosted 144Hz refresh rate for a 2,560x1,600 PureSight display. Some Lenovo fans tuning in to make sure will be relieved to find that it really does have the dual USB type-C system of the Legion Y90 before it - however, it still supports charging at no more than 45W for its 6,550mAh battery.

Then again, that has helped with Legion's ambition to make its latest tablet lighter and thinner (at 348g and 7.6mm respectively) than its predecessor. Nevertheless, it packs a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC that propels the new version of the 8,8-inch device to AnTuTu scores of 1,390,000 (according to Lenovo, at least).

The 2023 version has also officially ditched an 8GB RAM spec to start at 2,399 yuan (~US$334) for a 12GB/256GB internal storage model. 200 more yuan (~US$28) garners an upgrade to 512GB, whereas the Y700 2023's top-end SKU costs 2,799 yuan (~US$390), although this maxes the RAM out to 16GB. Hopefully, this version of the Y700 will make it to an official global launch this time.
