The 2023 Lenovo Legion Slim 5 with a 16-inch display is currently enjoying a deep discount of US$519 at Best Buy for an open-box unit in excellent condition. The massive US$519 savings bring the Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 price down to only US$830.99, a potential steal considering the components on offer (via slickdeals).

Furthermore, Best Buy also has the brand-new Legion Slim 5 on sale for US$1,029.99 instead of the usual US$1,349.99, a discount of US$320. According to Honey’s price history tool, the US$1,029.99 price is the lowest rate for the notebook since its June launch.

When it comes to hardware, the Legion Slim 5 packs a Zen 4 Ryzen 5 7640HS “Phoenix” APU, an RTX 4060 GPU, 16 GB of DDR5-5600 memory, and a 512 GB Gen 4 SSD. Additionally, the laptop carries a 16-inch FHD+ IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 144 Hz refresh rate, and 300 nits of peak brightness. The display also supports both NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync. Unfortunately, the panel only covers 45% of the NTSC gamut which is enough for gaming but unsuitable for professional work.

Thanks to the 6-core Ryzen 5 7640HS and RTX 4060, the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 should be plenty for FHD gaming. In our testing, the RTX 4060 is only 8% behind the RTX 3070 Ti mobile GPU, 4% ahead of the RTX 3070 mobile, and 20% faster than the RTX 3060 mobile in the Time Spy Graphics benchmark. This performance translates well to gaming, as the board proved capable enough to play Diablo 4 at 165.5 FPS, Star Wars: Jedi Survivors at 63 FPS, and Resident Evil 4 at 72.7 at FHD/Ultra settings.
