Gamers who are also content creators and tend to carry their laptop with them on a regular basis might want to avoid the heavy 15 and 16-inch machines that usually dominate this specific market segment. Instead, manufacturers like MSI offer more portable 14-inch hybrids such as the Stealth 14 Studio, which has now dropped to its most affordable price point thus far.
More specifically, Best Buy has introduced a much-needed US$400 discount for the MSI Stealth 14 Studio model with the Intel Core i7-13620H Raptor Lake processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 with an efficient TGP of 90 watts. This constitutes a discount of almost 24 percent in comparison to the gaming laptop's lofty MSRP and results in a sale price of US$1,299. Unfortunately, this version of the Stealth 14 Studio does not feature the high-resolution QHD display, but comes with the base FHD+ panel with 165Hz and 100% sRGB coverage. Furthermore, this MSI notebook is equipped with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD.
We've recently tested a different configuration of the MSI Stealth 14 Studio, which was criticized for the quite noticeable compromises such as the mediocre battery life and fan noise. On the positive side, the 14-inch gaming laptop has a respectable overall performance thanks to its RTX 4060, which should be a bit faster than the RTX 4050 in our test unit. Although prospective buyers should be aware of its various shortcomings, this notebook now sports a much more reasonable price-performance ratio than a few months ago and thereby has become a bit more competitive in its segment.
