The Dell G16 7620 with a Core i7-12700H CPU, an RTX 3060 mobile GPU, 16 GB of DRR5-4800 memory, and 1 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD is now on sale for a substantial US$300 off the US$1,199.99 list price at Microcenter (via slickdeals). Fortunately, the laptop is available for shipping, so even if you don’t have a Microcenter near you, you can still take advantage of the deal.
In addition to the 12th gen Core i7-12700H and the RTX 3060, the Dell G16 7620 packs a 16-inch 2560x1600 IPS panel that features a 16:10 aspect ratio, 165 Hz refresh rate, and NVIDIA G-SYNC. Furthermore, Dell claims the display boasts 300 nits of brightness, a 3 ms response time, and 100% coverage of the sRGB coverage.
In our review of the Dell G16 7620, we noted that the laptop was both heavier and thicker than competing devices. However, the notebook performed better than other machines with similar hardware. For instance, the Dell G16 7620 managed 6,582 points in Cinebench R20 multi-core benchmark, an 11% better result than the average Core i7-12700H showing in our database.
Similarly, the 130 W RTX 3060 mobile GPU also performed pretty well and came in the ballpark of the desktop RTX 3060. The GPU was also 5-10% ahead of the average RTX 3060 mobile according to our testing. The laptop, therefore, has enough graphics performance to run many modern games at or above FHD with 60 FPS. For instance, we measured 66.8 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 1.5, 86.6 FPS in The Witcher 3, and 108.7 in GTA V at FHD resolution and Ultra quality settings.
Put simply, the Dell G16 is well-built, has a big 16-inch panel that covers 100% of the sRGB gamut, and is sufficiently powerful for FHD/Ultra gaming. For only US$899.99, it seems to be a genuine deal.
