With the gaming handheld market becoming more popular, it should come as no surprise that more companies are looking to throw their hat into the ring. Typically, most x86-based gaming handhelds have 7-inch displays, such as the upcoming GPD Win Mini, the Steam Deck or the ASUS ROG Ally. There are a few exceptions though, including the smaller GPD Win 4 or the much larger AYANEO KUN and One-netbook's various ONEXPLAYER models.
While the latter examples have 8.4-inch displays, a new company trading as Meteorish is looking to take things even further with the TJD T101. Purportedly, the TJD T101 has a 10.1-inch display, which would be closer in size to the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 than competing gaming handhelds. Meteorish adds that the large display is a 1,920 x 1,200-pixel IPS panel, yielding a 16:10 aspect ratio like the Steam Deck. For reference, Meteorish has included the following I/O:
- 2x 2 W speakers
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x fingerprint sensor
- 2x Gyroscope sensors
- 2x Hall effect joysticks
- 2x Hall effect triggers
- 1x MicroSD card reader
- 2x USB4
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A
Additionally, the TJD T101 is said to feature a 60 Wh battery that it can recharge at 100 W, as well as a choice between AMD Ryzen 5 7640U or Ryzen 7 7840U APUs. Meteorish claims that it will pair these APUs with up to 64 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and a 4 TB PCIe SSD too connected via an M.2 2280 slot. Understandably, the TJD T101 will be a hefty device, with a quoted 890 g weight and 343 x 155 x 20 mm dimensions.
Currently, Meteorish hopes to bring the TJD T101 to Indiegogo next month with a starting price of US$599. However, this would be for only a Ryzen 5 7640U edition with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. By contrast, the company states that a Ryzen 7 7840U version with 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage will cost US$999.
