AYANEO AIR 1S: Pricing, specifications and launch date confirmed with new special lightweight edition also announced

AYANEO has now revealed full pricing and specifications for the AIR 1S, its lightest AMD Ryzen 7040U-powered gaming handheld. To recap, the AIR 1S combines a Ryzen 7 7840U APU with LPDDR5X RAM, a 5.5-inch AMOLED display and a 38 Wh battery. AYANEO has managed to fit all these components into a 450 g and 224 x 89.4 x 21.6 mm chassis too, making it considerably smaller than most competing gaming handhelds. However, the company has also created the Ultra Thin & Light Limited Edition, an 18 mm thick and 405 g alternative that sacrifices 10 Wh battery capacity and 5-7 W TDP depending on whether you are using it on battery or with it on charge.

As the images below show, the AIR 1S will start at US$799 with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Based on past performance, AYANEO is likely to limit this Early Bird pricing to limited numbers, making US$849 a more likely starting pricing when ordering through Indiegogo. For example, the company sold the AIR Plus with a Ryzen 7 6800U APU at US$779 for the first 300 units, and US$789 for a further 100 units before raising its pricing to US$889. Nonetheless, the AIR 1S carries a US$40 lower Indiegogo Retail Price than the equivalent AIR Plus.

By contrast, the Ultra Thin & Light Limited Edition will start at US$999, with a sole 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB SSD option available. Currently, AYANEO hopes to commence AIR 1S shipments in early August, although the company tends to do so in batches spanning a few weeks. Meanwhile, the company will wait until the end of the same month before dispatching AIR 1S Ultra Thin & Light Limited Edition orders.
