SimplyNUC's Onyx Pro, offers powerful specifications including an Intel i9-13900H processor, up to 96 GB of RAM and now options for workstation-class discrete GPUs. With support for customizable upgrades, extensive connectivity, and starting at $1,199, it offers a compelling value for workstation-class users looking for a powerful mini PC.

SimplyNUC, recognized for its Mini PCs and their impressive specifications, unveiled the Onyx in August last year, boasting up to an impressive 96 GB of RAM and a powerful Intel i9 13900H processor. Building upon this success, the company has now introduced the Onyx Pro, featuring similar specifications but now offering an optional dGPU within a marginally larger chassis.

At its core, the base model of the Onyx Pro is powered by the 45 W Intel "Raptor Lake" i9 13900H chip, boasting a 14-core/20-thread configuration along with an Intel Xe iGPU. It comes equipped with 8 GB of DDR5-5600 memory and 256 GB of PCIe 4.0-based flash storage, which can be significantly upgraded for enhanced performance. The system supports up to an impressive 96 GB of RAM thanks to dual SO-DIMM slots and can accommodate up to 8 TB of storage via triple M.2 2280 slots.

One of the most exciting features of the Onyx Pro is its support for dGPUs, providing users with a range of options to tailor their system to their specific needs. Options include the Turing-based NVIDIA Quadro T1000 which perforums similarly to the Ampere-era RTX 2050 Mobile, the now-ancient Polaris 12-powered AMD Radeon Pro WX 3200, and the Intel Arc Pro A40. Clearly, the choice of dGPUs show that the device is not targetted towards the gaming crowd, but rather to folks looking for a workstation-class mini PC.

Additionally, the Onyx Pro comes with a pre-installed MediaTek MT7922 wireless card with support for Wi-Fi 6E as well as Bluetooth 5.2. As expected from a workstation-class PC, connectivity options are extensive, featuring dual 10G SFP+ fiber ports, dual 2.5G RJ-45 LAN ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a generous array of USB ports, including 2x USB4 Type-C ports, 3x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, and dual USB 2.0 Type-A ports.

The Onyx Pro is currently available for pre-order, with prices starting at $1,199 for the base variant.
