SimplyNUC Onyx arrives as Geekom Mini IT13 rival with Intel Core i9-13900H processor and up to 96 GB DDR5 RAM

SimplyNUC has now announced the Onyx, a mini-PC that supports up to an Intel Core i9-13900H processor on a 4x4-inch motherboard. Alternatively, the company will offer the Onyx with a minimum of the Core i5-13500H, which drops the 14 cores and 20 threads of the Core i9-13900H for 12 cores, 16 threads and a 700 MHz lower peak P-core clock speed (4.7 GHz). In other words, the SimplyNUC Onyx will rival the Geekom Mini IT13, which we covered earlier this week.

Thus, the SimplyNUC Onyx also has various expansion options via 2.5-inch, M.2 2280 and SODIMM slots. However, while Geekom caps the Mini IT13 at 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM, the SimplyNUC Onyx has up to 96 GB of DDR5 RAM clocked at 5,200 MHz. Additionally, SimplyNUC's new mini-PC will be configurable with up to 16 TB of storage if you populate all its M.2 and 2.5-inch drive slots.

Moreover, the SimplyNUC Onyx features two HDMI 2.1 ports, a pair of USB4 ports with 20 Gbps bandwidth each, a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet connection and four USB Type-A ports. Currently, SimplyNUC hopes to open Onyx pre-orders on August 29. According to the company's press release, Onyx prices will start at US$699 with a Core i5-13500H processor.
