Chuwi HeroBox refreshed with Intel Alder Lake-N option for US$159
Chuwi has released an updated version of the HeroBox, a mini-PC that debuted over three years ago. While the design of the HeroBox remains unchanged, Chuwi has overhauled its internals. For reference, Chuwi now calls the HeroBox 'HeroBox 2023', likely a nod to the lack of visual changes between models.
According to Chuwi, the HeroBox 2023 retains a 0.97-litre case size, which measures 188 x 138 x 37 mm and weighs approximately 510 g. Thus, the mini-PC should be small and light enough to mount on external monitors; Chuwi has included VESA mounts for this purpose too. Nonetheless, the magnesium alloy and polycarbonate housing packs plenty of ports, as shown in the image below. Currently, Chuwi only offers the HeroBox 2023 in a single configuration based on the Intel Processor N100.
While not the most powerful of processors, the Processor N100 averages 2.34x the performance of the Celeron N4100 that powers the original HeroBox. Not only can the latter boost its CPU cores 1 GHz higher than the former, but it also relies on a narrower 10 nm manufacturing process and a more modern Intel Alder Lake-N architecture. At the time of writing, Chuwi lists the HeroBox 2023 for US$159 with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Allegedly, the mini-PC carries a US$199 MSRP, although it remains to be seen whether Chuwi will charge that much for its latest mini-PC. Please see Chuwi's product listing for more details.
