Framework has cut the price of its 11th Gen Intel Core Mainboards. To recap, the company introduced Mainboards just under 18 months ago with Core i5-1135G7, Core i7-1165G7 and Core i7-1185G7 processor options at launch. Originally, Framework sold Mainboards for replacement or repair purposes. However, they have since been utilised in various builds, with Cooler Master even creating a custom case to use the Mainboards as a mini-PC.
Now, In a press release, Framework explains:
When closing out the Compal factory in China that we originally used for subassembly manufacturing at the start of Framework Laptop (11th Gen Intel Core) production, we learned that there were a substantial number of finished and partially finished Mainboards left. We recently processed these through our factory in Taiwan to test them and update firmware. To get them out into the world faster and ensure they don't go to waste, we're dropping the price substantially.
While discounts between SKUs vary, Framework has reduced each model by at least 55%. Please note that the company has since run out of some SKUs in certain markets; for example, Framework only has the Core i7-1185G7 variant available in the UK, which it now sells for £399. With that said, you can sign up to be notified if Framework ever replenishes stock levels.
Currently, Framework is offering the Core i7-1165G7 model for US$299 in the US, down from US$699. Alternatively, a Core i7-1185G7 Mainboard sells for US$399, a 62% and US$650 saving. Please see Framework's website for more details.
