Roland Quandt has provided a first look at the Watch GT 4 series, a few days before Huawei introduces its next-generation smartwatches. As expected, the company has created two Watch GT 4 styles, each with a few unique colour options. Currently, the Watch GT 4 series is thought to be arriving in two sizes that equate to 41 mm and 46 mm case sizes.
While full technical details remain unknown for now, Quandt asserts that all models will support advanced fitness tracking capabilities. Presumably, Huawei will extend these features to blood oxygen level and ECG analysis, among other health monitoring options. Additionally, even the smaller Watch GT 4 variant is said to offer long battery life, in part because of having an energy-efficient OLED display, an RTOS-derived OS and a low-powered ARM Cortex-M processor.
Reportedly, the Watch GT 4 series will start at €249, likely for the 41 mm variant. By contrast, Quandt believes that the series will top out at €399 for the 46 mm model with a stainless steel watch band. As such, there will probably be a smaller price difference between the 46 mm silicone variant and the smaller 41 mm model with metal watch bands. Quandt adds that Huawei may not begin selling the Watch GT 4 series until early October, despite Huawei having already confirmed plans to announce new smartwatches on September 14.
