Garmin releases September 2023 stable updates for Fenix 7, Forerunner 955, Instinct 2 and other smartwatches
Garmin has pushed a new round of stable updates to its current smartwatch product stack. In a press release, the company outlines that it could take a few days for an eligible smartwatch to receive a notification to download this month's stable update, which is often the case with its staggered release schedules. For reference, Garmin will be its September 2023 available to the following smartwatches:
- Epix 2
- Epix 2 Pro
- Fenix 7
- Fenix 7 Pro
- Forerunner 255
- Forerunner 265
- Forerunner 955
- Forerunner 965
- Instinct 2
- Instinct 2S
- Instinct 2X
- Instinct Crossover
- Marq 2
- Quatix 7
- Tactix 7
- Venu 2
- Venu Sq 2
As always, not all new features are available across all the smartwatches listed above. Thankfully, Garmin has shared a table showing what functions it has enabled for each model, which we have embedded below. In short, only the Enduro 2, Epix 2, Epix 2 Pro, Fenix 7, Fenix 7 Pro, Marq 2, Quatix 7 and Tactix 7 are compatible with all Garmin's software changes.
Arguably, one of the company's most novel features is Gaming Activity. In the same press release, Garmin explains that Gaming Activity determines stress levels while gaming by collecting biometric data and synchronising them with the GameOn app. Moreover, the September 2023 update adds muscle maps for cardio, HIIT and pilates workouts, along with new activity profiles. Please see the table below and Garmin's press release for more details.
