Withings ScanWatch 2 unveiled with ECG, skin temperature sensor and up to 30 days of battery life
The ScanWatch 2 is one of two hybrid smartwatches that Withings has presented this week, with the other being the ScanWatch Lite. As always, Withings has equipped its hybrid smartwatch with a small display and conventional mechanical hands. Thus, the ScanWatch 2 resembles a regular wristwatch at first glance while also mastering many of the functions of a conventional smartwatch.
According to Withings, the ScanWatch 2 has a 0.63-inch OLED panel that displays 16-bit greyscale colours with a 282 PPI pixel density to maximise power efficiency. To that end, Withings advertises the hybrid smartwatch as being capable of lasting a month before its battery needs topping up. Still, the ScanWatch 2 can monitor your heart rate, skin temperature, sleep quality and deliver notifications from a paired smartphone.

Additionally, the ScanWatch 2 can take electrocardiograms (ECGs) for detecting cardiac arrhythmia and is 5 ATM water resistant. Withings has built the device around a stainless steel case and sapphire glass too, a combination that escapes almost all modern smartwatches. The ScanWatch 2 is compatible with Android and iOS as well, although it forgoes GPS or NFC connectivity.
The ScanWatch 2 is orderable now for US$349.95, €349.95 and £319.95 in the US, Eurozone and UK, respectively. It is worth keeping in mind that Withings charges US$99.50 annually for its Plus subscription, which adds advanced health assessments and workout videos, among other additions. Please see the company's website for more details about its Withings+ subscription service.
