Minisforum UM690S mini PC with AMD Ryzen 9 processor and improved cooling unveiled from US$351
Minisforum has announced an updated version of its Venus Series UM690 mini PC. The UM690S has the same specs as its predecessor but comes with an improved cooling solution with two extra fans at the bottom of the enclosure. According to the company, this leads to a drastic decrease in SSD and RAM temperatures.
Powering the UM690S is an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor with eight Zen 3+ cores boosting up to 4.9 GHz and Radeon 680M integrated graphics based on the RDNA 2 architecture. It also features two DDR5 SODIMM slots, an M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 slot, and room for a 2.5-inch SATA storage device.
Connectivity includes two USB-C ports (1x USB4 + 1x 10 Gbps), four 10 Gbps USB-A, a 3.5 mm audio combo jack, a couple of HDMI connectors (limited to 4K@60Hz each), and a 2.5GbE LAN port. Furthermore, users can add a wireless card thanks to the M.2 2230 E-key slot.
The Minisforum Venus Series UM690S can already be pre-ordered on the company's webstore, with shipments beginning in early November. Early-bird pricing puts the barebone version at US$351, while the top-end variant with 64 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD will set you back US$575.
