ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro: Launch pricing and release date announced for new AMD Ryzen 7 8840U refresh
One-Netbook has now revealed launch pricing and the release of its latest gaming handheld refresh. To recap, the company revealed last month its intentions to bring the ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro onto AMD's latest Hawk Point architecture. Incidentally, the same is true of GPD, which has recently started selling the Win 4 2024 and Win Mini 2024 exclusively with Ryzen 7 8840U APUs.
While GPD also rolled other changes into its AMD Hawk Point refreshes, One-Netbook appears to have carried across all other hardware from the current ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro. Based on early Ryzen 7 8840U reviews, the new ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro will deliver between 5-10% better performance at the expense of higher power consumption. As a result, the majority of our recent Ryzen 7 7840U review should apply to the device's Ryzen 7 8840U refresh.
One-Netbook will begin selling the new ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro on March 13. As far as we can tell, orders will open at 07:00 UTC, although the company erroneously mentions 00:00 PST in its press release. At any rate, the updated gaming handheld will start at $1,049 with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage and will rise to $1,149 for a version with double the storage. Please note that all orders will ship with a complimentary case and glass screen protector.
