Zotac: New external graphics cards with RTX 5000 performance in a small space
Zotac has presented three new enclosures for external graphics cards, that can also be equipped with the GPU ex-works. With these, the company is likely to be targeting professional users rather than the typical video gamer, as Ada video accelerators are used in each case. For example, they can be used in design and CAD applications.
Depending on the model version selected, an RTX 5000, RTX 3500, or RTX 2000 of the Ada generation is used. The GDDR6 memory measures 16, 12, or 8 gigabytes, with 256, 192 and 128-bit connections. Regardless of the model variant selected, the TGP is rated at 115 watts, and the cooling system consists of a heat sink and a fan. The actual graphics chip comes in the form of an MXM 3.1 module.
It is compatible with all notebooks and mini PCs - and ultimately also conventional desktop systems - with a Thunderbolt 3 or higher. Power cannot be supplied via the connected PC - a power supply unit is required instead. This offers an output of 180 watts.
With dimensions of 184.6 x 184.6 x 65.2 millimeters, the system is relatively compact and can also be mounted on the back of a monitor using a VESA mount. Three image outputs are available on the enclosure itself, while the three DisplayPort 1.4a connections also allow image output with a resolution of 7,680 x 4,320 pixels and 60 Hz.
There is currently no information on the price or the exact release date, but the additional graphics cards are unlikely to be a particularly cheap investment.
