MINISFORUM releases UM790 XTX mini-PC with overclocked AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS APU and OCuLink eGPU support
MINISFORUM has released numerous devices of late, including the V3 2-in-1. The company has offered up various new mini-PCs too, whether that be the EliteMini UM690 Pro or the Venus Series UN100D. Now, it has begun selling the UM790 XTX, a more powerful alternative to the UM780 XTX.
For reference, MINISFORUM revealed the UM790 XTX in late October 2023 with an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS that it already sells in the UM790 Pro (curr. $489.99 on Amazon). However, MINISFORUM has doubled the APU's TDP, which typically peaks at 35 W. Allegedly, the company's 'Cold Wave 2.1' cooling solution allows the UM790 XTX to maintain a 70 W TDP with 43 dB(A) fan noise.
As a result, the UM790 XTX should deliver superior performance compared to the UM790 Pro, although the exact extent remains to be seen at this stage. Moreover, MINISFORUM has packed the UM790 XTX with several modern ports, such as OCuLink and USB4. Currently, the mini-PC is only available in China, where it starts at CNY 3,299 (~$455) as a barebones unit. Alternatively, the UM790 XTX can be configured with 16 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM and a 512 GB SSD for CNY 3,999 (~$552). Please note that while MINISFORUM has not confirmed global availability yet, it does sell most of its mini-PCs outside China.
