Updated | Geekom AE7 emerges as high-performance gaming mini PC with AMD Ryzen 9 and eGPU support via USB4
The Geekom AE7 is reportedly on the way, and it could very well be a different variant of the A7 we have already tested. In our review, we noted that the A7 is a premium offering that packs a punch. One of the configurations of that mini PC is powered by the top-end AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS, a Zen4 processor that can smoothly handle almost everything you throw at it.
As reported by AndroidPC, the upcoming AE7 will also be featuring the same CPU. That would automatically make it stand as a competitor to the high-end Minisforum UM790 Pro, another powerful mini PC. Also, thanks to the Radeon 780M iGPU, the AE7 will also have what it takes to do moderate gaming.
On that note, as reported by the Spanish outlet, Geekom will equip the AE7 with a USB4 port, enabling eGPU support. The A7 also came with it, and when we paired the mini PC with a GPD G1 eGPU, it offered smooth gaming performance across most modern titles. However, the performance would definitely have been better if it had been an OCuLink port instead.
Other than that, the outlet reported that the Geekom AE7 will equip a robust cooling setup to ensure stable performance. The Ryzen 9 processor of the mini PC can also be reportedly paired with up to 64 GB of DDR5 RAM and a 2 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. As for wireless connectivity, the computer is said to sport WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, a good number of USB 3.2 Type-A ports, and a Type-C port.
There's no word on the pricing and availability yet, but we did reach out to Geekom for further details on the AE7. However, if it's indeed just a different version of the A7, you can simply pick that up from Amazon at $828.99 for the Ryzen 9 configuration with 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB storage.
