Venus Series UN100D: MINISFORUM releases new affordable mini-PC with expansion options and modern ports

MINISFORUM has expanded its mini-PC series once again, having introduced options like the Venus Series NAB9 and Neptune Series HX100G in the last few months, among others. Incidentally, the company is preparing to release the MINISFORUM V3 globally following an initial launch in China at the end of March. In the meantime, the company has begun selling the UN100D mini-PC across multiple markets as part of its Venus Series.

According to MINISFORUM's website, the Venus Series UN100D relies upon the Intel Processor N100 in all cases. As such, the mini-PC should be about as powerful as the S100-N100 that it showcased a few months ago. For reference, the Processor N100 furnishes the Venus Series UN100D with four Gracemont Efficient CPU cores and a 24 Execution Unit (EU) iGPU that all share a 6 W TDP. While the processor is a relatively low-powered option, it allows the Venus Series UN100D to be powered by a USB Type-C connection that supports USB Power Delivery. Unfortunately, it is unclear what wattage the mini-PC requires to run.

At any rate, the Venus Series UN100D starts at $199 or €219 with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB storage. For context, the mini-PC comes with an M.2 2280 SSD but also supports the inclusion of a 2.5-inch SATA HDD/SSD. Alternatively, the mini-PC can be configured with 16 GB of RAM for $209/€239 or $219/€259 with a 512 GB SSD as well. As far as we can tell, all SKUs come with the following ports:
