Acemagic offers a range of compact computer systems, a few of which we have been able to put to the test. The AM18 aims to impress with a certain visual design, although this is not brand new. It features dynamic RGB lighting and the design can be subsumed under the term 'cyberpunk'.
The mini PC is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS. Although not a cutting-edge CPU, it is still a powerful one with eight cores, whereby at least individual cores can clock up to 5.1 GHz if the thermal requirements are met. Unsurprisingly, active cooling is used for this, which is why a fan is installed. This measures 9 cm in diameter and runs at between 500 and 1500 spins per minute.
Two DDR5 memory modules with a speed of 5600 MHz and a total capacity of 32 GB are preinstalled, while an NVMe SSD with a capacity of 512 GB forms the internal storage. Additional storage, such as in the form of a 2.5-inch SSD or hard drive, cannot be installed.
An Ethernet port with a maximum data transfer rate of 2.5 Gbit/s is available for connection to a wired network, plus a Gigabit port. WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 are supported, and it is also possible to connect three high-resolution screens via HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C.
The Acemagic AM18 is available directly from the manufacturer at a price of $599. A possible alternative could be the Minisforum UM780 XTX.
