AMD has revealed two new AM5 CPUs with interesting names at a recent event in China. The Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F appear to be desktop Hawk Point chips with their iGPUs disabled.

Intel and AMD regularly launch China-only CPUs every release cycle. This time, Team Blue showed off the Core i7-14790F, while Team Read's offering was the Ryzen 7 7700F. AMD has torn a page off Intel's book by using the F monicker to indicate the lack of an iGPU. Now, the company has shown off two more China-only chips: the Ryzen 5 8400F and the Ryzen 7 8700F. It even references something called "Ryzen 5000XT".

Noted X leaker HXL spotted the image on QQ, a Chinese instant messaging platform. It shows off the Ryzen 5 8400F and Ryzen 7 8700F but doesn't specify any specs. Judging by their names, they're likely Hawk Point SKUs with their iGPUs disabled. The former likely packs 8 cores/16 threads and the latter 6 cores/12 threads. Both are slated to work seamlessly with AM5 motherboards.

Unfortunately, AMD hasn't specified the price of either processor. If the Core i7-14790F's price (~2900 RMB/$302) is anything to go by, the AMD Ryzen 7 8700F will likely try to undercut it with a cheaper price tag. It goes without saying the Ryzen 5 8400F will be even more affordable. Given its predecessor (Ryzen 7 7700F) never hit international markets, it is unlikely for either SKU to follow suit.
