ROG Swift PG38UQ: ASUS shares full details of first 38-inch gaming monitor with HDMI 2.1 ports
ASUS has now published full specifications for the ROG Swift PG38UQ, roughly two weeks after showcasing the gaming monitor at Computex 2023. The ROG Swift PG38UQ was just one of several products that ASUS debuted at Computex 2023 though, including the ROG Strix XG259QN. According to ASUS, the ROG Swift PG38UQ is the 'world's first' 38-inch gaming monitor with HDMI 2.1 ports.
In practice, this means that the ROG Swift PG38UQ can game at up 4K and 120 Hz over HDMI when connected to recent graphics cards or current-generation game consoles. However, ASUS has also included a DisplayPort 1.4 (DSC) connection for reaching 144 Hz at 4K. For reference, the ROG Swift PG38UQ has the following ports:
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4 DSC
- 2x HDMI 2.1
- 4x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A
Additionally, ASUS has integrated stereo 5 W speakers, a 100 x 100 mm VESA wall mount, a Kensington lock slot and a 1/4-inch tripod socket. Meanwhile, the panel itself relies on Fast IPS technology and has 1 ms response times (GtG) with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, NVIDIA G-SYNC and VESA AdaptiveSync compatibility to minimise image tearing. Also, the panel should offer 98% DCI-P3 colour space coverage, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and a matte finish to diffuse reflections in bright rooms. ASUS adds that while the ROG Swift PG38UQ delivers 350 nits typical brightness, its VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification ensures 600 nits peak brightness when viewing HDR content.
