RX 7800 XT vs RTX 4070 battle possibly on the cards as price, performance, and release window of the Radeon GPU leak
After revealing the price and specifications of the upcoming mid-range RDNA 3 cards including the RX 7600 XT and the RX 7700/XT, Paul from RedGamingTech is at it again with another set of leaks. This time, the leaker has alleged the price, performance, and release date information regarding the fully-enabled Navi 32 GPU possibly featured inside the RX 7800 XT.
According to Paul, the RX 7800 XT could perform in line with the RTX 4070 or, in the best-case scenario, the performance estimate could shift by 5-10% in favor of the Radeon GPU.
Interestingly, Paul has previously mentioned that the RX 7800 XT could be anywhere from being close to the RX 6950 XT to falling short of the RTX 4070 Ti. Furthermore, based on the recent report of the laptop RX 7800M XT performing identically to the desktop RTX 4070, the RX 7800 XT should, in theory, measurably outpace the GeForce card as it would have a much higher TDP than the mobile GPU. So, the current RX 7800 XT performance target shared by RedGamingTech, if true, is a downward revision.
Moving on, the leaker alleges that the RX 7800 XT release date is set for late Q3/early Q4 2023. Paul also suggests that AMD is looking to price the RX 7800 XT the same as the RTX 4070 which is disappointing if true.
Put simply, the RX 7800 XT appears to be a competitor to the RTX 4070 in both performance and price. But, as we’ve seen with the RX 7600 launch, AMD can drop prices shortly before release. So, nothing final can be said about the RX 7800 XT MSRP until the GPU is official.
