GPD has announced crowdfunding details for the G1, its first eGPU. Built around the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT, the GPD G1 will feature OcuLink and USB4 connectivity, among other features. The GPD G1 will also be the smallest eGPU to date and should match the performance of modern NVIDIA RTX 40 series graphics cards.

GPD has revealed its Indiegogo campaign for the G1, an eGPU that it continues to market as the world's smallest graphics card dock. As we discussed previously, the GPD G1 measures 225 x 111 x 29.8 mm, making it considerably smaller than something like a Razer Core X. However, the GPD G1 lacks expansion options that other eGPU offer as standard.

Instead, the GPD G1 comes mated to the Radeon RX 7600M XT, currently AMD's fastest mobile GPU. For reference, the Radeon RX 7600M XT relies on a Navi 33 GPU, the RDNA 3 architecture, 32 Compute Units (CUs) and 8 GB GDDR6 VRAM with a 128-bit bus and an 18 Gbps clock speed. While AMD compares the 6 nm graphics card against the desktop variant of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, GPD asserts that the Radeon RX 7600M XT surpasses the theoretical performance of the GeForce RTX 4060 mobile and RTX 4070. Regardless, the GPD G1 will outperform the Radeon 780M integrated in most modern gaming handhelds, ASUS ROG Ally included.

GPD has not announced pricing yet, although DroiX expects the eGPU to cost approximately US$700. The company has not outlined a specific Indiegogo launch date either, with a mid-June 'estimated time' offered for now. Still, GPD has published its Indiegogo listing, revealing full details about the G1 and how it will slot into its existing product stack.
