Gigabyte has finally taken the lid off its new AORUS Gaming Boxes, confirming that they will feature NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. While both high-end Ampere GPUs will be held back by the performance limitations of Thunderbolt 3, the new AORUS Gaming Boxes are the first eGPUs with water cooling.

Gigabyte has revealed its latest AORUS Gaming Boxes, a little over a week after Videocardz leaked them. Frustratingly, Gigabyte is yet to confirm the price of any model, but we have confirmation that the company will be selling RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 versions. Additionally, has published from where the new AORUS Gaming Boxes should be purchasable, whenever they are.

Both models have three DisplayPorts, two HDMI connections, three USB Type-A ports and a Gigabit Ethernet port. Naturally, there is also a Thunderbolt 3 port for connecting the AORUS Gaming Box to a laptop. The RTX 3080 edition will have a 550 W power supply, although it is unclear what power supply Gigabyte has paired with the RTX 3090 version.

Both AORUS Gaming Boxes will be water-cooled too, a first for eGPUs. Gigabyte has paired the RTX 3080 box with its WATERFORCE GeForce RTX 3080 10G card, but it is yet to confirm which model it has for the RTX 3090 version. The company does not yet offer a water-cooled RTX 3090, so it will be interesting to see what it has up its sleeve.
