Gigabyte has launched its latest eGPU, the Aorus RTX 4090 Gaming Box. The accessory comes fitted with an Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU equipped with Gigabyte’s Waterforce liquid-cooling solution and is designed to give high-end graphics performance for laptops. It is equipped with Thunderbolt 3 connectivity and should work fine with laptops that incorporate Thunderbolt 3 or 4 ports, and even those equipped with USB 4.0 ports.
Powering the graphics box is an 850W power supply with a 90% efficiency rating, which should help to ensure optimal sustained peak performance. The dimensions of the box are 189 x 302 x 172mm, with a matte black finish and a single Aorus RGB logo on the front panel. It is designed with ventilated top, left, and right side panels to facilitate airflow and ventilation, although the liquid-cooling should do most of the heavy lifting.
The Gigabyte 4090 box offers various rear and front I/O options, including three DisplayPort 1.4a connections, a single HDMI 2.1a connector, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, an ethernet port, and a Thunderbolt 3 port (compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4 ports as mentioned earlier). Additionally, there is a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port at the front. The rear Thunderbolt 3 port supports up to 100W of power delivery, allowing users to charge their laptops while utilizing the graphics card and its additional dock-like connectivity.
The Gigabyte Aorus RTX 4090 Gaming Box is rolling out to retail now, although the company has yet to formally announce how much it will cost.
