Deal | Open-box GIGABYTE AORUS 15 gaming laptop with RTX 4050 enjoys respectable 17% discount at Best Buy
GIGABYTE unveiled the AORUS 15 and 17 gaming laptops in February with the latest Raptor Lake CPUs and NVIDIA RTX 40 GPUs. The smaller AORUS 15 can now be had for only US$849.99 at Best Buy. According to Honey's price history tool, this discounted rate is US$50 less than the recent sales price and is consequently the lowest price for the laptop in 120 days.
However, the real deal is the open-box AORUS 15 which is currently going for only US$750.99, a US$101 discount over the price of the brand-new unit (via slickdeals). Unfortunately, like many Best Buy open-boxed items, the availability is limited.
When it comes to the internals, the GIGABYTE AORUS 15 packs a 12-core Core i5-13500H CPU, 8 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM, and 512 GB of PCIe Gen 4 storage. The RAM and storage amount is a bit disappointing but you can always expand them later thanks to two SO-DIMM and two M.2 slots.
The display on the AORUS 15 is a 15.6-inch FHD panel rocking a 144 Hz refresh rate. The 45% NTSC coverage puts the screen squarely in the gaming category, so you won’t be doing any color-sensitive work on it despite the laptop packing respectable power under the hood.
Talking about power, the 6 GB RTX 4050 serves the graphics duties on the AORUS 15. Although not the fastest, the RTX 4050 is plenty enough for FHD gaming according to our database. In our testing, the GPU managed 71 FPS in Baldur’s Gate 3, 42 FPS in Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, and 54 FPS in Returnal, to name a few.
Long story short, if you are looking for a mid-range gaming laptop with decently powerful internals for 1080p gaming, the open-box GIGABYTE AORUS 15 is worth taking a look at.
