Half-Life 3 rumors reinforced thanks to game file teardown
Half-Life 2 is without a doubt one of the most popular games ever. In the past, there have been repeated rumors about a possible third part, but so far it is unclear whether the series will receive another spin-off after the virtual reality game Half-Life: Alyx, released in 2020. But there are new clues that give fans hope again. In addition to the CV of a voice actress, the information discovered by well-known data miner Tyler McVicker in the game files of current Valve games also points to a new Half-Life game.
As the data miner explained on YouTube, he had found strings for Xen gorillas and an HEV suit. Fans are already familiar with the alien dimension Xen from the first two parts. The HEV suit worn by the main protagonist Gordon Freeman is also likely to be well known to gamers, and McVicker himself believes that the data found could belong to Half-Life 3 or a spin-off without Gordon Freeman. He also assumes that it was not a VR title. The data miner commented on this as follows:
"I think this is a non-VR Half-Life game where you play an HEV suit-wearing character that's been in development at Valve Software since Half-Life Alyx."
