Half-Life 3 rumours reignited by entry on voice actor's resume
At this point, the odds of Valve ever releasing Half-Life 3 seem next to non-existent. Gabe Newell continues to maintain stoic silence on the matter, and one of the game's writers effectively spoiled Half-Life 2 Episode 3's plot years ago. However, the Half-Life 3 rumour mill has been reignited once more, this time via a now-deleted entry on a voice actor's profile.
First spotted by an eagle-eyed Reddit user and archived by Eurogamer, it refers to yet-to-be-released title from Valve codenamed Project White Sands. One can safely assume this isn't Valve's hero shooter Deadlock, as it already has a name, and the company is actively soliciting players to test it. That leaves us with two possibilities: Half-Life 3 or the rumoured Half-Life: Alyx sequel.
Reddit users speculates it is Half-Life 3 because White Sands could mean one of two things: an allegory for a snowy environment or a location in New Mexico, which is where the original Half-Life transpired. For those out of the loop, the now-doomed Half-Life 2: Episode 3 was set in the Arctic Circle. Plus, Half-Life: Alyx's ending rounds up the plot pretty well, leaving little scope for a sequel. Either ways, we're getting a new Valve game in the near future, and that's more than we've had in the past four years.
