Google TV Streamer 4K: Chromecast successor tipped to arrive with a significant price increase
A previous leak showed off the Google Chromecast's successor, confusingly titled Google TV Streamer 4K. The new name is somewhat justified, as it looks nothing like a Chromecast, opting for a flat design which may or may not be inspired by a certain fruit-based company. Noted leaker Bilibil-kun (via Dealabs) has now revealed how much it could cost at launch.
Google's new 4K TV streaming solution will set you back by EUR 120 ($131). Of course, this will vary in different regions due to local taxes. A $99 pre-tax price tag in the U.S seems plausible. Still, this is nearly twice of what the regular 4K Chromecast costs ($49). The report adds Google could launch the Google TV Streamer 4K alongside the Pixel 9 series, Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2 on August 13, but speculates it could happen earlier on August 6.
However, you won't be able to buy it until September 24. The Google TV Streamer 4K does, however, come with a redesigned remote and an Ethernet port, and presumably, some new Google AI features that hopefully justifies the two-fold price increase.
