The Asus ROG NUC 15 is now officially on the market and expands the mini PC segment with a particularly powerful model. In our recent review, we took a close look at the top model with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX alongside a GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU and were impressed by the results. With its compact three-liter case, the computer is particularly appealing to users who need powerful gaming performance in a small space. Despite the small design, Asus relies on a powerful cooling system that keeps the CPU and GPU under control even under continuous load. Temperature-related restrictions did not occur at any time during the test. One of the advantages of the Asus ROG NUC 15 is its energy efficiency compared to conventional desktop PCs. However, Asus was not completely convincing in terms of energy consumption in our test. When idle, the mini PC consumes too much energy, which can probably be improved with a BIOS update.
In terms of performance, Asus sets new standards with the ROG NUC 15 if you are primarily focused on pure gaming. This is what the ROG series stands for, which Asus has had in its product range for many years. The ROG NUC 15 is also up to date in terms of features. In addition to numerous USB-A and USB-C ports, Thunderbolt is available for fast transfers and the connection of multiple external devices. Several display connections allow the operation of modern multi-monitor setups, which makes the mini PC interesting for creators or productive workflows, among others.
With the ROG NUC 15, Asus is aiming to redefine the high-end mini PC segment. The mix of state-of-the-art hardware, high-energy efficiency, and a remarkably quiet cooling system makes this compact powerhouse particularly attractive for gamers who have limited space or are looking for a powerful second system. At around $3,200 (currently at Amazon), the ROG NUC 15 clearly plays in the premium league. There is hardly any real competition in this niche currently, meaning that Asus is almost alone in setting the standard here.
