This time last year, we already knew the Asus ROG Phone 9 was coming. Not only was there a launch date, there was also an unboxing video and a handful of official teasers. Surprisingly, there has been little to no chatter about the Asus ROG Phone 10 which has led to speculations that Asus may have shut down the line of gaming smartphones. It turns out that isn't the case.
According to the Chinese leaker, Smart Pikcahu on Weibo, the ROG 10 is on its way. The info was revealed when asked by a follower if Asus has shut down the line of smartphones, in which the leaker replied in the negative and added that ''the ROG (phone) 10 is on its way''.
A search for the Asus ROG Phone 10 on Weibo reveals an earlier post by the same source made back in late September. According to the post, Asus' next-gen gaming smartphone series will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The post also revealed that the ROG Phone 10 series will have a familiar design, improved heat dissipation, and AI features.
The leaker also mentioned that the ROG Phone series will have a high refresh rate, ray tracing, and desktop-level performance, while several games have been optimized to support the phone's high refresh rate. The ROG Phone 9 series, including the cheaper ROG Phone 9 FE and the top model, the ROG Phone 9 Pro (available on Amazon for $1,299), have a 185Hz refresh rate, so there's a chance the ROG Phone 10 series will stick to the same refresh rate.
It is expected that more details will surface as the launch of the ROG Phone 10 draws close. However, until official details surface, we advise readers to take the above with a pinch of salt.
