Though it is not the first Warhammer game the developers have made, this latest title adds a ‘Vampire Survivors’ touch to the game and uses the same engine to boot.

Developers Auroch Digital and Poncle teamed up to work on their latest title, Warhammer Survivors, a bullet-hell action roguelike set in the “grim darkness of the far future.” Fans of the genre will find the name familiar, as they should, because the game is inspired by Vampire Survivors, the highly successful, smash hit that came out previously in 2022—rated Overwhelmingly Positive with over 123,000 positive reviews, made by the same developer, Poncle, who is now also working on this latest Warhammer title.

Built on the same engine as Inspiration, Warhammer Survivors will offer players a similar fast-paced and action-packed experience with wave after wave of an endless horde to fall to your weapon of choice. ”Obliterate the skittering, beady-eyed Skaven and their horde of warp-addled abominations or stand your ground against the ravenous Tyranid swarm and its myriads of monstrous Xenos Bioforms.” Players will have a significant roster of widely popular characters to choose from, both 40k and AoS ( Age of Sigmar).

Players will be able to choose from a variety of favourite weapons “drawn from the armouries of the far future and the Mortal Realms. Eviscerate Tyranid hordes with a chainsword, or pulverise enemies with the unrelenting Bolter... and, if all that doesn’t work, drown them in a pot of Citadel Nuln Oil paint,” the latter being an easter egg in the game, referring to a black wash paint used a lot on Warhammer miniatures to give them a particular kind of shading.

As is typical of this style of game, players can expect to continuously upgrade and add abilities and powers to their arsenal, causing the ability to create combos that result in “devastating new forms to create screen-clearing storms of bullets, blades and magic.” Players will be able to battle the hordes across multiple levels set in the “grim, dark 41st Millennium and the Mortal Realms”

Fans of the franchise can look forward to multiple Warhammer titles, including Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 4, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, Space Marine 3, Dark Heresy, and now Warhammer Survivors, all set in the Warhammer universe.

The developers promise to deliver more information on all the features they plan to add to Warhammer Survivors, which is set to release sometime in 2026.
